  • On Thursday afternoon at Crawford Long Middle School, the Brenda Smith Clay Foundation donated dozens of gifts to needy students. Students received items including tablets, chemistry sets, a cellphone, and headphones, and they were visibly surprised by the unexpected donation.  FOX 5 Atlanta

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UGA saw a 12.8% rise in early action applications for fall 2026 with over 34,000 submissions. Out-of-state entries jumped 17.9% compared to in-state, and admissions were announced on Nov. 21 — out-of-state decisions came on Dec. 12; deferred students may still update grades and scores.  WUGA

  • Georgia law disallows drivers from wearing two earbuds while driving but permits one earbud for making calls. Athens drivers should follow this rule to stay safe and avoid fines.  Athens Banner-Herald
