EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Clarke County School District had six schools recognized by GaDOE for growth in math and reading during the 2024-25 school year — three middle schools earned awards in math while three elementary schools were lauded for their improvement in reading scores. The Red & Black
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Athens-Clarke County has launched the Oconee Rivers Greenway Network Connectors Project to build eight miles of concrete trails and 3.1 miles of natural paths along the Oconee River so people can walk and bike safely while learning about the environment. Local officials said the $6,763,000 effort will connect neighborhoods and parks — a key part of Athens’ plan for sustainability and conservation. The Red & Black

- ➤ On Friday, Nov. 14, the University of Georgia men's basketball team beat Georgia Tech 92—87 at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens. The Red & Black
- ➤ The University of Georgia men's hockey team defeated Texas 5-1 at Akins Ford Arena in Athens on Nov. 14th. The Red & Black
- ➤ On Friday, Nov. 14, UGA hosted Ohio State in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament at the Jack Turner Soccer Complex—Athens, and the team lost 2-0. The Red & Black
- ➤ Former UGA alum John Bell of Widespread Panic will sing the national anthem at Sanford Stadium before the Georgia Bulldogs face the Texas Longhorns—fans will wear Class Trip’s new tie-dye and retro apparel that honors the band’s Athens roots, with more drops anticipated in the future.
