On Thursday afternoon, nearly fifty community members gathered on Branch Street as Habitat for Humanity dedicated its second home for the Micah’s Creek Homeownership Opportunity Project—an effort to provide more affordable housing in east Athens.

The new owners, a Black family of four, received keys, a bible, and blankets and the project plans to build 61 more homes for families, veterans, and college students facing housing challenges.
