If you follow housing, Wednesday's Mayor and Commission meeting had plenty for you. Commissioners passed an amendment 7-1 that lets qualifying projects in all Mixed Density Residential and Commercial zoning districts pay into an affordable housing fund instead of providing affordable units on site. District 3's Tiffany Taylor voted no.
After almost two hours of discussion, commissioners voted 6-2 to hold a rezoning request at Reese and West Broad. The proposed mixed-use development would move the site to "downtown" zoning. Bertis Downs told commissioners the lack of parking "alone ought to be enough to send it back to the drawing board."
