- ➤ Dexter Weaver, owner of Weaver D’s, put the restaurant up for sale last month as he prepares for retirement. The quarter-acre, green-painted building from 1950 is listed at $800,000—investors are not expected to keep its long-held restaurant identity while Weaver plans future projects and will still host his annual Feed the Hungry Thanksgiving feast. - ➤ Gonzoriffic, Athens’ only experimental film collective making feminist and queer-centric films, will host its 17th Underground Movie Show on Nov. 7 and 8 at 10:30 p.m. at Ciné. The two-night event will feature films such as Cheerleader Reunion, Sluts4Satan, Lampe, Pickles and The Countess, and Velcome+ Athens burlesque star Jackie N. Hyde will host each night. Flagpole
- ➤ On Tuesday, Nov 4, the Institute of Native American Studies and Historic Athens hosted a panel of UGA tribal citizens at Lyndon House Arts Center where they discussed the long history of Native American presence in Athens — highlighting past removal policies that erased much of this heritage. The speakers explained how these historical actions continue to shape their academic and cultural experiences. The Red & Black
- ➤ Strolling Bones Records will posthumously release Tommy Talton’s final studio album, Seven Levels, on Friday, Nov. 7, recorded at Capricorn Studios with his bandmates. A special performance by The Mike Veal Band—featuring Randall Bramblett and Rick Hirsch—will celebrate the album on Sunday, Nov. 9 at Hendershot’s. Flagpole
