- ➤ University of Georgia fraternities and sororities met on Oct. 31 at Frat Beach on Saint Simons Island where they wore costumes before the game against Florida. Photos from the annual event show students enjoying the beach and a lively atmosphere. The Red & Black
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Georgia President Jere Morehead asked sideline reporter D.J. Shockley to serve as the spring undergraduate commencement speaker on air Saturday, Nov. 1+Shockley said he could not turn it down. The undergraduate ceremony will be held on May 8 and Shockley is known for his work as a Fox 5 Atlanta sports anchor who helped lead Georgia to a 2005 SEC championship. Athens Banner-Herald

- ➤ On Saturday, Nov. 1, Georgia football defensive lineman Jordan Hall injured his lower leg when a teammate fell on him early in the game against Florida at EverBank Stadium—he left the field for X-rays and did not return. Backup players Josh Horton and Xzavier McLeod are expected to fill his spot for the rest of the game. Athens Banner-Herald
- ➤ Florida fired coach Billy Napier on Oct. 19 after he went 0—3 against Georgia, making him the first full-time Gators coach since the 1940s not to beat the Bulldogs. His record broke a long trend of Florida coaches winning at least once against Georgia. Athens Banner-Herald
- ➤ Georgia football defensive back KJ Bolden was ejected for targeting on Nov 1 in a game against Florida after he led with his helmet on a 7-yard catch by Dallas Wilson—Zion Branch is expected to replace him on the field. Athens Banner-Herald
