- ➤ Spectrum donated $50,000 to the East Athens Development Corporation to fund a digital skills job training program for local residents—part of the company’s $30 million initiative to revitalize community centers. - ➤ Last night, the Foundation for Excellence hosted its annual ceremony to honor outstanding teachers and staff in Clarke County School District and selected 14 winners from more than 300 applicants. Math teacher Conor Naughton of Hilsman Middle School won the Ann M. Schindel Award for Teachers of Mathematics, which gives him $2,000 over two years — marking his fourth time to be recognized by the foundation. WUGA

- ➤ The federal SNAP program in Georgia will pause by the end of this week as funding runs out — affecting nearly 1.5 million residents amid a 30-day government shutdown. FOX 5 Atlanta
- ➤ The ACCGov Leisure Services Department & the Oconee Rivers Greenway Commission is seeking public comments on changes to the Greenway Network Plan that guides future trail and corridor projects in Athens-Clarke County. - ➤ On October 29th, citizens gathered at The Foundry to learn about a $150 million redevelopment plan by Core Spaces to transform the Hotel Abacus property with a new parking deck and off-campus student housing — the project includes infrastructure upgrades that will raise annual property taxes by $2.2 million and add an $8 million affordable housing payment, with a vote scheduled for November 4th.
