- ➤ Wild Rumpus 2025 will bring a Halloween Mardi Gras to Athens on Saturday, October 25th as costumed participants gather at 5 p.m. at West Hancock Avenue at Pulaski Street, where local bands, a festival zone, and fire spinners will set the stage for a parade that becomes a DJ dance party until 11 p.m. — the event raises funds for a nonprofit and is led by creator Timi Conley who starts the parade by blowing a conch shell. - ➤ On Oct. 21, 2025, the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens held a ceremony to rename its South Gallery after co-founder Nancy Lukasiewicz, who died in 2022—local artisans also unveiled a handcrafted bench in her honor. The Red & Black
- ➤ Emmy Award-winning comedian John Mulaney will perform at the Classic Center in Athens on Saturday, Feb. 14 during his Mister Whatever tour—tickets go on sale for the public at 10 a.m. Friday. Athens Banner-Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Athens-Clarke County Unified Government has opened online applications for the Downtown Parade of Lights, which will take place at 7 p.m. on December 4 from Hancock and Pulaski to City Hall and gives priority to float entries while allowing groups without floats to perform short numbers. Applicants must pay a $40 fee and submit forms by 5:00 p.m. on November 4 — the parade theme, Cooking up a Great Holiday, was inspired by parade marshal Peter Dale. WUGA
- ➤ Local food banks in Athens said families will soon need more help because federal SNAP rules will change in November—Family Promise Athens is accepting grocery store gift card donations to support those at risk if benefits are reduced. WUGA
