- ➤ Porchfest will take place on Sunday, Oct. 19 in seven historic Athens neighborhoods—more than 200 local artists will perform outdoors at houses, churches, and businesses from noon until 8 p.m. Athens Banner-Herald

- ➤ Two cats remain missing after the Furkids Animal Rescue transport van was totaled in a six-vehicle crash on I-85 in Jackson County Monday afternoon—35 of the 37 kittens have been found, one injured kitten is receiving treatment, and the driver was hospitalized and later released. FOX 5 Atlanta

- ➤ Athens will host a variety of Halloween events throughout October, featuring the Wild Rumpus Parade & Spectacle on Oct. 25 and the Boo-le-Bark costumed dog parade on Oct. 19, along with local film screenings, art shows at Flicker Theatre and Bar, live music, and haunted hayrides. - ➤ The University of Georgia announced that it will demolish Legion Pool, its pool house and concert stand while redeveloping Legion Field into a larger greenspace with an outdoor amphitheater and 70 new parking spaces.
