- ➤ Lyndon House Arts Center will host five new exhibitions this month — including ‘Carving Out Liminal Pathways Toward Fragmentation’ by Sebastian Garcia Huidobro and Rachel Lea Seburn, whose works mix abstract foam and fabric sculptures with brutalist influences — with opening receptions set for Thursday, Oct. 2 at 5:30 p.m. All shows run through Jan. 24 except Susan Perry’s ‘Wonder,’ which closes Dec. 6. - ➤ Clarke County School District reported progress in graduation rates as Cedar Shoals High School’s rate increased 2.2 points to 81% — with its five-year rate jumping over 10 points to 84.5%. - ➤ A contract post office inside the ADD Drug store on South Lumpkin Street in Athens closed Tuesday after the Postal Service ended nationwide contract operations. - ➤ The Athens-Clarke County Commission will vote on Oct. 7 on a new location for the aging Eastside fire station—Commissioner Myers proposes a plan that meets lighting codes and environmental safeguards while Commissioner Davenport recommends starting over.
