- ➤ Historic Athens is not supporting the current plan for the UGA President's House Adaptive Reuse Project because they say the project is too large for the historic area—changes such as a smaller building, careful work rules, and stronger preservation protections are needed—Capstone Property Group is checking these issues before moving ahead. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On September 25th, Athens alumni of Kappa Alpha Psi hosted their second annual Prostate Cancer Summit at Timothy Road Baptist Church to urge men to act as self-advocates by seeking regular tests for prostate cancer. Panelists including Dr. Stalina Gowdie and survivor Floyd Downer explained testing options and screening guidelines—especially for those with a family history—to help men decide when to begin early detection. - ➤ The Georgia Department of Public Health confirmed three new measles cases, bringing the total to 10 in 2025 after a case on September 11 linked to the university campus.
