The Athens YMCA held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Sept 9—launching a $9.3 million improvement project to expand fitness and wellness areas and add the Cobern Kelley Youth Wing with STEAM and youth spaces.

The campaign raised $4.6 million, and the project will be completed in December while the facility remains open during construction.

Kyle Joseph Anderson, 34, of White Plains, PA, was arrested Sunday afternoon for sexually assaulting a female employee at Cloud 9 Smoke & Vape Shop on East Broad Street—police said after reviewing surveillance footage that showed him exposing himself and groping her.
