- ➤ Athens-Clarke County grand jury indicted Dwayne Watson for peeping tom and loitering after officers arrested the 33-year-old homeless man on June 22 outside an apartment on Spring Court—when a resident called at 1:40 a.m. and found him with his pants down near a bedroom window—and he remains in custody with arraignment set for October 15. - ➤ Police in Athens are investigating a rape case after a 22 yr old woman reported being assaulted in her apartment late Friday night and additional charges including aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy and felony theft are under review—authorities said the 18 yr old suspect, a friend of a friend who drove her home from local bars, had previously been arrested in Barrow County for DUI and cocaine possession. - ➤ The University of Georgia begins offering free flu vaccinations on campus today during BeWellUGAfest at Tate Plaza from 10am to 1pm, where UGA ID holders can get shots without an appointment. Nurses also will provide vaccines from mobile clinics at campus events and walk-in shots at the University Health Center Pharmacy, and select dining halls will offer vaccines Monday through Thursday starting September 15th. - ➤ The CDC says mosquitoes are the deadliest animals because they carry diseases like malaria, West Nile, and dengue that kill thousands each year.
