- ➤ An Athens man, Thomas E. Hurst, 62, was arrested on August 14 for firing his gun into the air near Baxter Street while intoxicated—he faces charges of reckless conduct, discharging a firearm, and being a pedestrian under the influence, was released on bail the following morning, and is set for arraignment on October 15. - ➤ The University of Georgia is seeking donations to cover $60,000 to digitally restore the 1986 film 'Athens, GA: Inside/Out' that captured local bands and cultural moments; the film will be sent to specialty companies for restoration and screened on its 40th anniversary next year & it promises to preserve an important chapter of Athens music history.
