- ➤ An Athens man, Thomas E. Hurst, 62, was arrested on August 14 for firing his gun into the air near Baxter Street while intoxicated—he faces charges of reckless conduct, discharging a firearm, and being a pedestrian under the influence, was released on bail the following morning, and is set for arraignment on October 15.
