Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 15th of August.
Good morning, Athens.
🎓 Education
Thousands of UGA students moved into dorms this week ahead of the fall semester starting Monday (many shared tips and excitement as they adjusted to campus life).
📰 Real Estate
Athens renters should know Georgia lacks a statewide rent cap, so landlords can set new rental rates at lease renewal if allowed (60 days’ notice is required for month-to-month and six months for fixed leases).
Tenants can negotiate or opt not to renew if the increase is too high.
🏈 Sports
Georgia football coaches are evaluating safeties at today’s scrimmage in Sanford Stadium to fill the open starting safety spot alongside KJ Bolden.
They are focusing on production as players (including Rasean Dinkins and Ja’Marley Riddle) compete to earn their roles for the season.
