- ➤ The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government invites Athens-area artists to submit proposals for public art murals on the exteriors of the Lay Park Community Center — which is celebrating 50 years of service — and the Heard Park Community Center, with a deadline on September 19 at 5:00 p.m. The chosen artist will work with local stakeholders and government staff to create art that enhances these centers. - ➤ Athens-Clarke police are investigating two fraud cases as a Decatur businessman lost $304,000 after a woman and an unknown man used his personal information to access his Wells Fargo account on June 30 and July 3 plus a 75-year-old Athens businessman was scammed out of $198,000 when two unknown men obtained his account credentials from a phone call on July 30.
