- ➤ ACC Jail inmate Brent Monroe Boling died on July 11 at 2:49 p.m. in a local hospital after a medical emergency and was kept on life support until his organs were harvested on July 16—he was the fourth inmate to die in jail since April as Sheriff John Q. Williams blamed severe understaffing for the chain of events. The Red & Black

- ➤ Researchers warned Athens residents to report sightings of the invasive spotted lanternfly, an insect native to Asia first seen last fall in Fulton County. The bug, which feeds on more than 70 plant species, may soon reach the area & affect local agriculture, forestry and nurseries as its numbers peak from June to November. The Red & Black

- ➤ CCI Real Estate closed a $67 million construction loan today to redevelop the Baptist College Ministries building into 290 Lumpkin on the UGA campus in Athens.
