- ➤ UGA alumna Parvati Shallow, who won Survivor: Cook Islands nearly 20 years ago, will appear on Survivor vs. The World on CBS and start her new memoir and podcast this summer — she says her time at UGA helped her grow strong. Classic City News

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UGA raised a record $300.4 million in private support last fiscal year from over 72,460 donors, funding scholarships, faculty help, and a new School of Medicine building that secured $100 million. President Morehead thanked donors for their support — marking the first time fundraising surpassed $300 million — and said the funds will advance key initiatives. WUGA

- ➤ Robert Bob Cowell was named Athens-Clarke County manager by the Mayor and Commission on Tuesday night after a search of 50 candidates—two commissioners supported his appointment while one opposed it over a lack of transparency. Cowell, who was formerly the city manager in Roanoke, will manage day-to-day county operations despite ongoing lawsuits. WUGA
- ➤ The Athens-Clarke County Transit audit identified six key issues—such as unclear information, employee pay, and security problems—with police incidents rising from 97 before fare-free rides in 2020 to 271 in 2024. Transit officials agreed on 17 recommendations that may be implemented in the 2026—2027 fiscal years. WUGA
