Good morning, Athens.

Love.Craft Athens moved into a new facility on West Broad Street in May to offer more space and specialized training for 46 adults with developmental disabilities — the nonprofit now features areas for pottery and music and plans improvements for better accessibility.

A grand jury declined to indict 30-year-old Tommy Lee Orr for assaulting Officer Surine at the Microtel Inn & Suites parking lot on March 5th after his mother called 911 for help—he was instead charged with making a false statement and remains held in Athens jail due to a probation violation.

The high cost of rent in Athens is turning old music spaces into apartments—places where bands like R.E.M. once rehearsed are now disappearing.

Local experts say that rising rents and more students are making it hard for new bands to find a place to practice—this trend could change the city's music scene.
