- ➤ On June 20, 41-year-old Joshua Singletary jumped into his pickup truck bed as he pulled into his home on McNutts Creek Drive and called 911 saying he would drive until police found him — an officer later spotted his truck on Epps Bridge Road and arrested him at Quality Glass for loitering and prowling with bail set at $1,500. - ➤ A 34-year-old woman defended herself with pepper spray at her Rear Arch Street home when her daughter called to report that her father, Rodney Edwards, was drunk and breaking things—officers later found broken door glass and arrested Edwards for simple assault and trespass/damage to property. - ➤ Local leaders and historian Annie Bell Mathews worked with members of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church to save the one-room Chestnut Grove School—built in 1887 for Black children—from demolition due to Epps Bridge Parkway expansion. - ➤ The University of Georgia athletic department is asking local voters to choose from eight musical acts for a concert scheduled at Sanford Stadium on April 25th next year—named Live Between the Hedges—to mark a return to large-scale shows following the 2013 event. Athens Banner-Herald
