- ➤ A married couple was indicted on burglary and theft charges for breaking into an AT&T building in Athens in August and September 2022 — Johnross and Denna Youngblood from Forsyth County were released on bail in October 2022 and will be arraigned on June 3. Classic City News
- ➤ Athens-Clarke County Police are asking for help to locate a dark-colored sedan that hit a pedestrian and killed a dog on Essex Court near Cedar Shoals Drive around 9 p.m. April 13—officials say the car has a damaged passenger side door. Classic City News
- ➤ Firefighters led a two-night stakeout at Southeast Clarke Park after arson damage was found on May 20, and officers arrested two suspects for second-degree arson when they returned on May 22 — the fire department said. Athens Banner-Herald
- ➤ Madelynn Peacock, a 23-year-old UGA student, was arrested on May 8 after she injured her girlfriend with a concrete flowerpot during a domestic dispute at a residence on Little Oconee Street in Athens—she was released on $1,500 bail with a Magistrate Court order banning contact with the victim and preventing her return to the home.
