- ➤ The Athens Area Humane Society is expanding its Full Bellies Food Bowl program to help families keep their pets at home. The drive-through event runs on the first and third Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at AAHS on Mitchell Bridge Road and has tripled pet food distribution. Flagpole
- ➤ Ralph B. Maxwell Jr., longtime editor of the Oglethorpe Echo and former Lexington city council member (known for his commitment to local journalism and the arts), died after a lengthy career serving the community. - ➤ Clarke County School District today announced the valedictorians and salutatorians for the 2026 graduating classes of Cedar Shoals, Clarke Central, and Classic City high schools.
