- ➤ The Clarke County Board of Education named interim Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Scott as the sole finalist to permanently lead the school district during its May meeting. The board will vote on her appointment after a required 14-day waiting period. WUGA

- ➤ Governor Brian Kemp re-suspended the motor fuel excise tax — giving drivers a 33-cent per gallon discount — to ease fuel costs for Memorial Day travel, with the measure starting at midnight on Wednesday and running until 11:59 p.m. on June 2. Athens Banner-Herald
