- ➤ The Oconee River Land Trust led a frog walk for kids and parents in Jackson County on May 9. The expert-led tour allowed participants to see frogs up close in their natural wetland habitat — a unique local experience. WUGA
- ➤ Athens PBJs brings together volunteers and homeless friends every Sunday at 2 p.m. on the corner of Clayton Street and College Avenue to share peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and build lasting relationships. The nonprofit (founded in 2007 by UGA sophomores) works with local churches to help supply food and support. The Red & Black

- ➤ Sonia Altizer (head of UGA’s Department of Entomology) shared her research on monarch butterflies and the infectious diseases that impact their migration during an interview with James Hataway. She explained steps for insect lovers to help sustain the butterflies. WUGA
- ➤ Beloved UGA English professor Coleman Barks, known for his translations of Rumi, passed away on Feb. 23 in Athens, leading to a memorial at the UGA Chapel on April 23. Family and community members continue to honor his legacy. WUGA
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Georgia baseball clinched the SEC regular season title on Saturday night after beating LSU 13-8, achieving an eight-game win streak with 137 home runs this season. The Bulldogs secured a tournament bye and will begin SEC play on Thursday, May 21. Athens Banner-Herald
