- ➤ On April 25, a car struck an older couple crossing near Live Wire at Dougherty and Hull and police allowed the driver to leave without a sobriety check—witnesses said an officer searched the car, poured out a bottle of alcohol, and both victims were taken by ambulance with injuries that did not appear severe. - ➤ On April 25th, Athens police allowed a driver to leave after a car traveling 20 to 30 mph struck an older couple in a marked crosswalk near the Live Wire event at Dougherty and Hull Streets—later, officers arrested the driver on charges of homicide by vehicle and failure to yield.
