- ➤ Two Athens residents died after a vehicle struck them in a crosswalk on Gaines School Road near McDonald's on Friday night—police charged driver Lois Lorraine Dua with violating the crosswalk and second-degree vehicular homicide and expect an additional charge after one victim died later at the hospital. - ➤ Gas prices in Georgia have dropped this year, with the average regular gas price at $2.91—49 cents lower than last year—which saves drivers about $8 per fill-up according to AAA and WSBTV.
