- ➤ At a bus stop near the Parkview neighborhood — where a 16-year-old Clarke County student was stabbed — police say a 17-year-old Athens teen attacked him on Wednesday morning and has been detained, while the victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. WUGA

- ➤ On Tuesday, April 22, the Clarke County School District Board met at 5:00 p.m. to review the FY 2026 budget, which has a $17 million boost from last year along with changes to health care and teacher benefits. Superintendent Hooker and CFO Griner explained the plan and discussed new roles to support sustainability—future hearings are set for June 2, 3, 11 and the board will make a final decision on June 12.
