- ➤ County fire officials said the fire on April 8 at John Willcutts’ home on Winterville Road started in the room with the dining and laundry areas and the fatal blaze remains under investigation as officials await the GBI autopsy report—no cause has been determined. Classic City News

- ➤ The Clarke County Board of Education approved Sabrina Lumpkin as the principal at Barnett Shoals Elementary and Bylan Swift as the principal at Whitehead Road Elementary during their meeting on April 17 + Lumpkin will take over on July 1 while Swift starts immediately, replacing her interim role. Lumpkin replaces outgoing principal Aliceson Nobles. The Red & Black
- ➤ At its meeting on April 17, the Clarke County School District Board approved two new elementary principals—Sabrina Lumpkin will lead Barnett Shoals Elementary on July 1 while Bylan Swift took charge as Whitehead Road Elementary’s principal immediately.
