- ➤ UGAPD reported a break-in at the Jackson Street Building on March 29 when a stone shattered a window at around 2:22 a.m. and officers later arrested a man on campus for a probation violation after he was seen with a bicycle and an electric scooter — he is now in jail. The Red & Black

- ➤ Athens poet laureate Mikhayla Robinson Smith is in her second year and is using her role to break down barriers between academic poetry and community voices—she plans Poetry in the Park events and a festival to boost local participation. Athens Banner-Herald
- ➤ Athens Creative Theatre will perform The Cemetery Club at Quinn Hall at Memorial Park from May 1 to May 3 at 7:30 p.m. The play follows three widows—Ida, Lucille and Doris—whose monthly tea turns complicated when a butcher named Sam visits his wife’s grave and tries to spark a romance with Ida; tickets cost $15. - ➤ The University System of Georgia set a record with 345,823 students enrolled in spring 2024 at its 26 public colleges and universities after two years of declines. Undergraduate enrollment grew by 14.1% and master’s programs increased by 12.6% while research and comprehensive universities saw gains — Chancellor Sonny Perdue said rising dual enrollment spurred talks of three-year degree programs.
