- ➤ Community leaders and officials gathered in the parking lot of Athens-Clarke County Library on April 2 to dedicate a new solar panel canopy that will reduce energy use and support the city’s push for clean energy by 2035. Speakers including Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz and Georgia State Librarian Julie Walker said the project used a $100,000 EBSCO grant and matching SPLOST funds to help reach energy savings equivalent to 100 homes' use. - ➤ The county Leisure Services Department announced the Unbroken Circle: The Musical Threads of Art Rosenbaum exhibition at the Lyndon House Arts Center, which has been on view since April 3 and will run through June 14. - ➤ Athens-Clarke County jail held a graduation ceremony for the Re-Entry Success Program on April 2—where inmates earned support, education, and training for their transition back to the community.
