  • Athens Physical Therapy hosted its 15th annual Firefly Trail Ticket to Ride cycling event on Saturday morning at Dudley Park and nearby trailheads to raise funds for the nonprofit to complete the 39-mile trail connecting Athens, Winterville and Union Point. Cyclists on bikes, including electric, participated to boost trail awareness.  The Red & Black

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 13th TEDxUGA event was held on Friday, March 27 at the Morton Theatre as UGA students and local residents gathered to explore shifts in perspective (Dark Mode) through engaging talks and presentations.  The Red & Black
  • Watkinsville native Chris Greer previewed Season 4 of PBS travel show Viewfinders during a WUGA interview on March 28, highlighting its mix of conservation + photography that will air on GPB soon.  WUGA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lillie Brooks (an Athens resident and former teacher) is running for the District 7 seat on the Clarke County School District Board of Education with a clear platform. Her race is on the ballot this year.  WUGA

  • The University of Georgia women's golf team hosted the 54th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic yesterday at the UGA golf course in Athens, with 17 schools competing to honor Hall of Fame coach Liz Murphey.  The Red & Black
