- ➤ Jam for Cam music festival returns to downtown Athens today at 2:30 p.m. to honor UGA student Cameron Fearon, who died of metastatic melanoma in 2018 — funds raised will support melanoma research and Camp Carolina — as the nonprofit takes over the city streets for the annual event. WUGA

- ➤ Clarke Central High School is offering AP African American Studies for the first time this school year (Cedar Shoals taught it last year) as officials work under a law that bans ideas they call divisive amid changes to federal funding. - ➤ On March 28th, the ACC Government Department of People and Belonging hosted a Women Resource Fair at Lyndon House Arts Center on Hoyt St in Athens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event offered health screenings, career coaching, mental health support + community resource information to help women as Women's History Month came to a close. - ➤ A sweeping school safety bill that would require schools to keep records of red-flag student behavior and run a 24/7 anonymous tip line cleared a Senate committee on March 27th and remains in play before a full Senate vote. The House already approved the bill with bipartisan support, and senators will vote on it before the legislative session ends next week. WUGA
- ➤ The Georgia Senate cleared a sweeping school safety bill on Thursday that drops a controversial student threat database while requiring schools to keep behavior records and set up anonymous tip lines with state-funded advocates—Sen. Bill Cowsert of Athens said the measure aims to intervene early in warning signs after a mass shooting at Apalachee High. The bill now goes to the Senate Rules Committee and will be voted on before the session ends next week. Athens Banner-Herald
