- ➤ Lawmakers approved House Bill 340 banning cellphones in elementary and middle schools starting next fall; the Georgia General Assembly passed the bill with strong bipartisan support and a 54-2 Senate vote. Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to sign the bill today (Distraction-Free Education Act), and schools will enforce device lock-ups for all nonexempt students beginning July 2026. Classic City News
