- ➤ ACCgov Housing & Community Development will host free tours of affordable housing projects to mark National Community Development Week. Sessions run Tuesday, April 7, and Friday, April 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Historic Athens Welcome Center — registration required. Athens-Clarke County
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ CineVantage, a film production company, is now a full-time tenant at Athena Studios today, working on independent films, content, and digital projects in the 185,000 sqft complex. The company is also launching The Georgia Story Lab (a collaborative hub for local filmmakers and UGA film students) to boost creative work. Athens Banner-Herald
- ➤ USPS honored Athens quiltmaker Harriet Powers by releasing four Forever Stamps on Feb. 28. The stamps feature panels from her renowned Pictorial Quilt — a tribute to her enduring impact on American folk art. WUGA
- ➤ Palestinian performance artist and poet Fargo Nissim Tbakhi, author of TERROR COUNTER, is set to speak today at the University of Georgia as part of the Graduate Reading Series. His reading and Q&A will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. in Baldwin Hall. WUGA

- ➤ UGA students in the Weather Dawgs group use a high-resolution model to offer custom Athens forecasts today. They process raw data and debate predictions to bridge gaps left by regional radar systems that favor larger metro areas. Athens Banner-Herald
- ➤ Athens Academy juniors Andrew Caldwell and Eva Saraf have been selected to join the 2026 Governor’s Honors Program and will study math and communicative arts at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro this coming June and July. Their selection comes after a rigorous nomination process among more than 4,200 nominees. The Red & Black
