- ➤ On March 20, the Lamar Dodd School of Art hosted its spring art market at UGA in Athens, where local art students showcased and sold their work. Photos captured moments like live performances and creative displays (including printmaking and art sales). The Red & Black
- ➤ University of Georgia’s Pi Beta Phi sorority hosted the annual Ari’s Battle of the Bands at Paloma Park on Saturday, Mar. 21 in Athens. The event honored UGA student Ariana Zarse (who passed away in 2021) and raised funds for mental health services through the Sunshine Fund. The Red & Black
- ➤ Amanda Dzimianski has been named Athens-Clarke County’s poet laureate, selected this winter to serve until 2028. She will host a community open mic on April 19 from 3-5 pm at the Athens-Clarke County Library. WUGA

- ➤ UGA sophomore Harshaa Rajarajan will speak at TEDxUGA this April – his talk will show how Wall‑e inspires viewers to shift from surviving to thriving. He previewed his presentation with WUGA’s Emma Auer. WUGA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The county’s Leisure Services Department is accepting applications for over 100 summer positions, including camp counselors, counselors in training, lifeguards, pool clerks and Grand Slam, with pay ranging from $15.60 to $17.94 an hour; applicants can apply online or call for more details. - ➤ Dr. Loretta Duggan of HER Health on Prince Avenue discussed her practice focused on adolescent women’s health—covering puberty and periods—in an interview with WUGA’s Emma Auer on March 21. Her conversation highlighted how her work supports teens and young women in Athens. WUGA

- ➤ The UGA Block and Bridle club hosted the 51st Great Southland Stampede Rodeo from March 19 to 21 in Athens. The event (the country’s largest student-run rodeo) featured riding competitions, pig wrestling, and lassoing cows. The Red & Black
- ➤ The University of Georgia women's tennis team won 4-0 against Auburn on Saturday, Mar. 21 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens. The Red & Black
- ➤ Georgia All-American gymnast Lily Smith, injured in February, said at the SEC meet in Tulsa that she may return to compete on bars if Georgia qualifies for nationals on April 16 & 18 in Fort Worth. Smith holds a 9.95 high score on bars this season. Athens Banner-Herald
- ➤ Ty Johnson, a 3-star offensive tackle from Lucy Beckham High School in Mount Pleasant, S.C., committed on Saturday to Georgia football, following his father’s footsteps (Travis lettered for the Bulldogs 30 years ago).
