- ➤ Piedmont Athens and Safe Kids Athens are hosting a free car seat safety check today from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Medical Services Building Parking Lot (242 King Ave), where certified technicians will ensure proper installation for child safety. WUGA

- ➤ Hendershot’s on Prince Avenue will stay open after local buyers purchased the cafe, with owner Seth Hendershot planning to hand over keys by the end of March. A final day festival featuring music, poetry and art will mark the transition on Mar. 31. WUGA

- ➤ The University of Georgia's Block and Bridle Club, known for hosting its annual Great Southland Stampede Rodeo, meets every other week at its historic clubhouse (The Pit) and holds livestock shows, bull sales, fishing trips, and a national convention in Athens. - ➤ The Bulldog Basics program at UGA turns 10 this month — helping students with personal care items to cover basic needs. The Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences says students have placed over 765 orders online and saved more than $95,000. WUGA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Kemp signed legislation on March 20 suspending the gas tax for 60 days and approving state income tax rebates that could save motorists up to 37 cents per gallon. Motorists in Athens may start seeing savings at pumps later this week. FOX 5 Atlanta
