- ➤ Athens residents have a varied weekend with a student-run art market today, a charity dance competition Saturday supporting Project Safe, a gaming shop opening, a women’s fest, and a free spring concert on Sunday — showcasing community talent. Athens Banner-Herald

- ➤ Timothy Pritchett, a third-grade teacher at Barnett Shoals Elementary School, is a finalist for the Georgia Teacher of the Year award—named by the Georgia Department of Education. He got the news on Thursday and will be honored at a May reception if selected. The Red & Black
