- ➤ Local restaurant owner Joe Nedza bought the famous Weaver D's property to honor Dexter Weaver and plans a new comfort food restaurant. Weaver D's, known since 1986, will close next Thursday, Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. & Nedza aims to open his spot by early-to-mid April. Athens Banner-Herald

- ➤ Applications are open for a building committee for the West Broad School Complex repurposing project. Community members can apply online or at the Clarke County School District Office (8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.) until 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, with up to four slots available. The Red & Black
- ➤ The University of Georgia launched its new School of Medicine in Athens on Feb. 20, opening applications for 60 students while aiming to ease the state’s critical physician shortage.
