- ➤ LHAC launched an online call for artwork submissions for its 51st Juried Exhibition for Athens area artists aged 18 and older, open until January 20 at 11:59 p.m.—an application clinic is offered Saturday, January 17 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Community Room. Athens-Clarke County
- ➤ Jason Isbell will perform solo at The Classic Center on Saturday, Jan. 17 with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m.-tickets range from $91 to $310 as he tours in support of his new acoustic record, Foxes in the Snow. Flagpole

- ➤ In fiscal 2025, UGA increased research spending by over 4% to $654 million and set a new record for seven straight years. President Morehead credited federal support from agencies including the Department of Defense and NSF and the strong work of faculty and students. WUGA
- ➤ The Clarke County Board of Education invites input via a six-question survey on its superintendent search, with responses due Saturday, Jan. 31 (CCSD families, staff, and students welcome participation). The superintendent posting is available on the GSBA website and applications will be accepted through Sunday, Feb. 1. The Red & Black

- ➤ Athens-Clarke County’s 911 center is now authorized to send Integrated Public Alert & Warning System alerts to all mobile devices in the area during emergencies, while UGA students will continue to receive UGA Alert messages along with IPAWS alerts. The Red & Black
- ➤ The Athens-Clarke County Planning Commission recommended denying Capstone Properties’ revised proposal for a 72-room luxury hotel at the UGA President’s House property (Prince Avenue) because the scale still exceeds zoning limits. The decision will be reviewed by the ACC Commission in February amid local concerns. Flagpole
