COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Buddhist monks leading Walk for Peace changed their route in Georgia and will now be seen stopping in Good Hope (24 miles southwest of Athens) tonight between 6 and 9 p.m. as they plan to head toward Columbia instead of Augusta.  Athens Banner-Herald

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • UGA freshman Ayden Slipsager suffered a traumatic brain injury while skiing in Colorado and is now receiving treatment at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta (his family requests community support during his rehabilitation).  FOX 5 Atlanta

CULTURE NEWS

  • Buddhist monks on a 120-day Walk for Peace passed through Atlanta this week before moving through Monroe & Good Hope as they continue toward Washington, D.C. The group is expected to pass through Athens later and reach South Carolina on Jan. 10.  Athens Banner-Herald

  • On Jan. 1 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Ole Miss beat Georgia 39-34 in the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff Quarterfinal game, with standout plays + memorable moments captured in photos.  The Red & Black
