About this event

Hands on History Symposium 2026—a celebration of craft, design, and community—on November 6 & 7, 2026.

Through inspiring presentations by preservationists, historians, craftspeople, and scholars, Hands on History Symposium 2026 explores how traditional craftsmanship, historic preservation, and cultural heritage continue to shape our communities. From adaptive reuse and historic restoration to living craft traditions, the symposium celebrates the enduring connection between the hands that built our past and the hands that will preserve its future. Participants may enhance their symposium experience with optional cocktail reception and dinner events.

Events will be held at the historic Athens Cotton Press, Taylor-Grady House, and The Hill in Athens, Georgia. Includes full access to both Friday and Saturday symposium programming, as well as dinner at Taylor-Grady House on Friday evening and a Southern Supper at the Donald-Epting House on Saturday evening.
